Packing

Packing by people who do it every day.

Proper materials, room-by-room labelling and an inventory you can actually follow at the other end.

Who it is for

The situations this solves.

Packing is the part everyone underestimates. It is not hard work so much as long work, and it is the single biggest reason moves run late.

  • You do not have the weeks

Full-time work, a family, and a settlement date that arrived faster than expected. Packing is the first thing to slip.

  • Fragile or valuable pieces

Glassware, ceramics, artwork, a record collection. Things where the wrapping method matters more than the box.

  • A big house with a full garage

Four bedrooms, a shed and twenty years of accumulation. The volume is the problem, not the difficulty.

  • Going into storage

Things sitting packed for weeks or months need packing differently from things that travel across town and get opened the same night.

What you get

What is included, and what is optional.

Included as standard

  • A walkthrough to size the job and agree what is being packed
  • Cartons, packing paper, bubble wrap and tape
  • Room-by-room packing with labels that match the destination room
  • Individual wrapping of fragile and awkward items
  • Wardrobe cartons so hanging clothes stay on their hangers
  • A written inventory of what went into which box
  • Beds, mirrors and glass tops wrapped for transit

Optional, or job dependent

  • Partial packing - kitchen and fragiles only, you handle the rest
  • Unpacking at the other end
  • Specialist crating for art, antiques and instruments, available on request
  • Packing timed for a storage stint rather than a direct move

How it works

From first call to finished.

  1. 01

    Walk the house

Room by room, agreeing what we pack, what you keep with you and anything that needs special handling.

  2. 02

    Materials on site

Everything arrives before packing starts, so nobody is driving off mid-job to find more boxes.

  3. 03

    Pack and label

Worked room by room, labelled to the destination room, with fragile items wrapped individually rather than nested and hoped for.

  4. 04

    Inventory and load

The list is checked before anything goes on the truck, so what leaves and what arrives can be compared.

Questions

The things people actually ask.

How long does packing a house take?
It varies enormously with volume and how much has already been sorted. We estimate it at the walkthrough. As a rule, the kitchen and the garage take far longer than people expect and the bedrooms take less.
Do you supply the boxes and materials?
Cartons, paper, bubble wrap and tape are included when our team does the packing. If you are packing yourself, you can buy cartons and materials from us. Either way, your quote shows what is included and what is charged separately.
Can I pack some of it myself?
Yes, and plenty of people do - books, clothes and linen are straightforward. Leave the kitchen, the glassware and anything fragile to us if you can. Tell us what you have packed so the inventory stays accurate.
What should I keep with me?
Passports, jewellery, medication, house keys, laptops and anything irreplaceable. Not because we expect a problem, but because those things should never be in a box you cannot open on demand.
Will you pack the kitchen?
Yes, and it is usually the room worth paying for. Kitchens are slow, breakable and awkward, and they are the first room you need functional at the other end.
Does packing affect what is covered?
Transit insurance available on every move — cover confirmed in your written quote. Cover often differs between items packed by us and items packed by the customer, so ask for that distinction in writing before you decide how much to do yourself.
