Questions
The things people actually ask.
- How far ahead should I book?
- Earlier is easier, particularly at the end of the month and over school holidays when demand is highest. Tell us the date you are working towards when you enquire and we will tell you honestly what is available.
- How is a local move priced?
- Local moves are quoted as a fixed price, in writing, based on what is moving and the access at both ends. You have it before you commit - we do not quote a figure on the phone and revise it once the truck is loaded.
- Do I need to empty drawers and wardrobes?
- Empty anything breakable, heavy or loose. Clothing can usually stay in drawers if the unit is sturdy. Filing cabinets and glass-fronted furniture should be emptied. We will flag anything specific when we look at your inventory.
- What if there is no lift, or the truck cannot park close?
- Tell us before the day. Stairs and a long carry change how many people the job needs, and pretending otherwise just means a slower move and a surprise on the invoice. Some councils also require a permit to park a truck - we will let you know if yours is one of them.
- Is there anything you cannot take?
- Dangerous goods do not travel: petrol, gas bottles, paint, solvents, fireworks and ammunition. Drain the mower and the whipper snipper. If you are unsure about something, ask us rather than hiding it in a box.
- What happens if something is damaged?
- Tell the crew before they leave so it is recorded on the day. Transit insurance available on every move — cover confirmed in your written quote. Ask for the specifics before you book, and read them - we would rather you knew exactly what is covered than assumed.
